❄️ 🚙 Finally snow on Crete - We had to go immediately

It doesn’t happen very often, but when it does, it feels special every single time: snow on Crete.

Early in the morning the messages started coming in — white mountain roads, frozen bends, and landscapes that suddenly looked nothing like the island most people know. There was only one possible reaction: go immediately and see it with our own eyes.

Within minutes we were on the road, heading up into the mountains. The contrast was stunning. Just a short drive away from the coast, Crete had transformed into a winter scene. Snow-covered hills, icy roads, silence, and that unmistakable feeling that you are witnessing something rare.

Driving through the snow in a Jeep reminded us once again how diverse Crete really is. In summer it’s sun, beaches, dust and heat — but in winter the island shows a completely different character. Raw, quiet, powerful, and incredibly beautiful.

We stopped, took photos, enjoyed the moment, and simply stood there for a while. No rush, no tourists, just nature doing its thing. Moments like this are exactly why we love being here year-round.
